ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team opened its MIAC schedule with a 9-0 loss to the University of St. Thomas at Macalester's outdoor Hayden Courts Wednesday afternoon. The Scots are now 2-1 overall, while the Tommies improve to 7-0, 5-0 MIAC.

Junior Lily Stein (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) split two sets at No. 4 singles against Jenna Czarnecki, but Czarnecki earned the win with a 10-7 decision in the tie-breaker. At No. 5 singles, sophomore Jessica Ilc (Niles, Ill./Maine East) forced a second-set tie-breaker before falling, 6-0, 7-6 (7-1).

Macalester hosts a non-conference dual with UW-Stout on Saturday, Feb. 25 in the Leonard Center.
