OWATONNA, Minn. -- The Macalester College women's tennis team opened up conference play today and fell to St. Olaf College, 8-1 in a team dual at the Owatonna Tennis Center. The Scots drop to 1-2 this season and St. Olaf improves to 2-1. The Oles were picked fourth overall in the MIAC Preseason Poll.

St. Olaf was able to sweep singles competition, but Macalester came back to earn a big win in doubles play. Sophomore Lily Stein (Winnetka, Ill./ New Trier) and first year Rainah Ward (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) defeated the duo of Bailey Kent and Ellie Bergstrand, 8-4.

The Scots will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 27 when they take on Bethany Luthern College at 11:30 a.m. in Owatonna, Minn.
