ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team beat Hamline University in a dual meet, 169-119 Saturday afternoon at Bush Pool. Juniors
Kaila Chapman (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial) and
Smaranda Georgescu (Henderson, Nev./Green Valley) each won two individual events and a relay.
Chapman was victorious in the 200 butterfly in 2:28.54 and in the 400 individual medley with a season-best time of 5:12.59. Georgescu won the 200 freestyle in 2:05.29, the best time by a Scot this season. She also captured the 100 freestyle in 55.21, just .02 off her season-best time. Maggie McKenna (Palo Alto, Calif./Henry Gunn) and sophomore
Kaia Lund (Mondovi, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial) to win the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:57.31.
Junior
Hannah Bonestroo (Ames, Iowa/Ames) also won two individual events, taking first in the 1650 freestyle in 20:28.87 and winning the 500 freestyle in 5:55.49. Both times were Bonestroo's fastest of the season.
McKenna placed first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:37.00, while Lund won the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:03.13. Senior
Christina Bloom (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) also won her event, taking first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:15.37.
Macalester faces St. Catherine in a dual on Jan. 29 before hosting Grinnell College on Jan. 30 at Riley Pool in the Leonard Center.
