ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College softball team will host two home doubleheaders this week. On Wednesday, April 8, the Scots will take on Augsburg College and then will follow up with a Friday doubleheader against the University of St. Thomas.
The RecordsMacalester: 14-9 overall, 2-4 MIAC (10th place)
Augsburg: 7-14 overall, 1-6 MIAC (11th place)
St. Thomas: 21-5 overall, 5-3 MIAC (5th place)
Upcoming EventsOn Thursday April 9th, the softball team will be welcoming their newest team member, Alyssa LaFountain. Alyssa is joining the Scots through Team IMPACT. The goal of Team IMPACT is to connect children with life threatening or chronic illnesses to collegiate sports teams. Draft Day will be held at 3 p.m. in the Hall of Fame room.
Friday, April 10th, will serve as Senior Day at the Scots doubleheader vs. St. Thomas. Macalester will honor

When They Last MetMacalester last matched up against Augsburg on April 5th of last season. The Scots swept the Auggies 1-0 in game one and 8-6 in game two.
Macalester last took on St. Thomas on April 9th of last year. The Tommies, who were ranked no. 20 at the time, defeated the Scots 8-0 and 6-0 in the meeting.
Stat LeadersAbby Cox is off to an unbelievable start this season. Cox can be found on the MIAC stat leaders list in several categories. She currently ranks 8
th on the batting average charts, hitting .419 on the season. Cox sits in third place on the RBI list.
Miranda Stokes is tied for first place in the MIAC with six home runs on the season. She is trailed by teammates
Abby Cox and
Nikki Caicedo who each have five this season.
First year pitcher,
Logan Tootle has recorded the most saves in the MIAC this season with two.
Last Time OutThe Scots last outing came against St. Olaf on Saturday, April 4. The Scots split against the Oles, falling in game one, 15-6 and coming back to win an exciting game two, 3-2.
First year outfielder,
G.G. Gunther was the star of the game, hitting a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to propel the Scots to victory. Gunther had two hits in the game.
Miranda Stokes earned the win on the mound and also posted a three-for-four performance at the plate.
