Women's Soccer: Macalester works overtime again for second win.

Michaela McGonigle's goal in the fourth minutes of OT gives Scots a victory.

Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Rae Hohle scored twice in regulation time and Michaela McGonigle scored three minutes, 45 seconds into overtime, and Margaret Nemetz set up all three goals as Macalester, for the second consecutive Friday, went overtime for a win, defeating Grinnell, 3-2.

For Hohle, the two goals were the first of the sophomore's career. After playing 12 games last season without finding the back of the net, she found it twice against the Pioneers.

Her first goal came on a set piece in the fourth minute of the second half as Nemetz lined up a free kick from near the right sideline and 10 yards off the end line. Nemetz launch the kick into the middle of the box and, from just outside the crease, McGonigle struck a header inside the far post.

Elle Silverman evened the score in the 60th minute when she collected a loose ball and launced a high ball over Macalester goalie Emma Toomer from 33 yards out.

Hohle gave the Scots another lead in the 74th minute when she hooked up with Nemetz once again. Neither team was able to settle a corner kick by Nemetz, who came racing in to collect the loose ball and serve up a perfect pass for Hohle to head home from eight yards out.

The Pioneers's Lilyrose Weiss tied the game once again with 3:58 to play in regulation when Dabney Hofammann chipped a ball over Toomer and allowed Weiss the opportunity to put the ball into an unguarded net.

Playing their second overtime in as many games, Macalester made quick work of the overtime session as Nemetz was once again the catalyst, sending a corner kick to McGonigle 15 yards out out. She redirected the ball towards the net, where it deflected off a Grinnell defender before going in the net.

The Scots held a 25-12 advantage in shots, including a 14-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Macalester concluded play in the Associated Colleges of the Midwest Showcase when it hosts Lake Forest, Sunday, at 11:30 a.m.
