Women's Tennis: Royals top Scots

The Macalester women's tennis team was defeated by Bethel 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon in St. Paul. The loss drops the Scots to 2-5 in MIAC play and 4-10 overall with only two matches left on the campaign.

The Royals picked up their first conference win of the season and also improve to 3-12 overall. The match was originally rescheduled from April 15th due to harsh weather conditions.

Carmen Whitehead (Sr., Greeley, Colo. / West) and Riley Menagh (Fy., Grand Island, Neb. / Grand Island) each picked up victories for the Scots. Whitehead defeated Bethel's Kristin Vivian 7-6, 6-7, 7-4 in the No. 2 singles matchup, and Menagh defeated her opponent Abby Kreklau in straight sets 6-3, 5-4 in No. 4 singles. The Royals swept the three doubles matches.

The Scots will travel to Winona to take on St. Mary's on Saturday before hosting Carleton to wrap up the regular season on Sunday afternoon.
