The Scots will host their final game of the 2013 season against the Hamline Pipers on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 16) on Senior Day in an attempt to retain the Paint Bucket Trophy for the third consecutive year. The Pipers lead the all-time series with a 66-43-4 record.  Hamline Football website

Macalester will face a MIAC opponent for the second straight week, after losing at Augsburg last weekend 34-16. A win will finish the Scots with 4-6 overall record, and also mark the first time in school history a senior class will finish with a winning record over a four-year period since the class of 1989 went 21-17-1 from 1985-1988. The Pipers will be coming off a tough loss at St. John's in which they led by 11 points early, before falling late 20-14 last Saturday.

The Scots have won the last two meetings between the two schools. In 2011, the Macalester defense led the Scots to a 17-0 shutout victory to secure the Paint Bucket for the first time since 2002. The Scots closed the 2012 season with a 45-21 victory at Hamline last season in which the Macalester offense outgained Hamline in total yardage 519-303.

On offense, junior quarterback Samson Bialostok has been the focal point for the Scots. Bialostok has rushed for 668 yards and six touchdowns and also thrown for 1,218 yards and six touchdowns on the season. Senior kicker Auburn Jimenez has been very consistent this season, converting 11-15 of his field goals including a career long 47-yarder at Augsburg last week. Defensively, the Scots have been aided by junior defensive back Bolton Howes and his three interceptions. Junior defensive end Alex Morrall has been a large contributor up front on the defensive line, with a team-leading four sacks this season.

The Pipers are led offensively by sophomore running back Austin Duncan who has totaled 1302 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground this season. In an overtime loss to Carleton earlier this season, Duncan rushed for a school record 298 yards on 48 carries en route to MIAC Football Offensive Player of the Week honors. On defense, safety Anthony Hill leads the team with 105 total tackles, and also has an interception and fumble recovery on his resume.
