Macalester rallied with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Carleton 4-3 in St. Paul, but could not maintain its momentum in the nightcap as the Knights won 5-2 to pick up the split in Wednesday's MIAC opener.

The Scots had their six-game winning streak snapped in game two and are now 12-6 on the season, 1-1 in the MIAC.  Carleton is 2-15 overall and 1-1 in the MIAC.

Behind 3-0 going into the final half inning in the opener, Macalester drew a couple walks and took advantage of two Carleton errors to set the stage for the big comeback.  Katie Fuller (So., Boulder, Colo.) drove in a pair of Mac base runners to tie the game at 3-3, and then Erin Slater (Fy., Federal Way, Wash. / Decatur) singled up the middle to drive in Miranda Stokes (Fy., Perry, Utah / Box Elder) with the walk-off game-winner.

Fuller, Cleo Nagy (So., Eugene, Ore. / Henry D. Sheldon) and Courtney Nussbaumer (Jr., Brookfield, Wis. / East) each collected two hits in the game.

Pitcher Amanda Knopf (Sr., Boulder, Colo.) allowed only four hits and struck out six batters to improve to 6-2 on the season.

Carleton again jumped on top in the second contest and this time held the Scots off, keeping Macalester away from any big innings.  Nussbaumer, Stokes and Hali Englert (Fy., Castle Rock, Colo. / Castle View) each had a couple hits for Macalester.  Jenny Ramey went 4-for-4 for the Knights.

The second of 11 MIAC doubleheaders for the Scots is slated for Sunday (April 1) at home against St. Benedict at 1 p.m.
