Macalester vs. Northwestern box score

Macalester, starting a bid for a fourth straight winning season, got the 2011 spring campaign got off to a strong beginning Saturday at the Leonard Center with a 9-0 shutout over Northwestern-Roseville.

The closest match was at No. 1 doubles, where Courtney Olson (Fy., Red Wing, Minn.) commenced her collegiate career by joining up with Abby Citrin (Sr., Rye Brook, N.Y. / Blind Brook) for a hard-fought 9-7 decision.

All Mac singles wins were in straight sets. The Scots picked up victories from Paige Schaefer (So., Madison, Wis. / East) at No. 1; Citrin at No. 2; Lauren Dutkewicz (Sr., St. Charles, Ill. / North) at No. 3; Louise Dickson (Sr., North Oaks, Minn. / Mounds View) at No. 4; Maddie Vargo (So., California, Pa.) at No. 5; and Sarah Couser (Fy., Middleton, Wis.) at No. 6 in her first college match. Dutkewicz survived a first-set tiebreaker.

The Scots return to the court next Saturday (Feb. 19) against Martin Luther at 11 a.m. at the Leonard Center.
