Macalester vs. St. Mary's box score

After starting the season with four straight defeats, the Scots have now claimed seven victories in a row, the most recent being Wednesday night in Lakeville when Macalester edged St. Mary's by a 5-4 tally. The Scots pick up their first conference triumph and improve to 1-2 in the MIAC and 7-4 overall. The Cardinals fall to 1-5 in the MIAC and 2-7 overall.

St. Mary's began the match by taking two of the three doubles events. Mac's lone doubles win by turned in by the No. 3 tandem of Amanda Wenzel (Jr., Green Bay, Wis. / Southwest) and Becky Schneider (Sr., Larchmont, N.Y. / Mamaroneck). Wenzel and Schneider are now 6-1 in double play on the season.

The Scots needed to take four of the six singles matches and did just that. The closest – and the decisive – match came at No. 5 where Mac's Lauren Dutkiewicz (So., St. Charles, Ill. / North) claimed a pair of 7-6 wins, winning 9-7 and 7-4 tiebreakers.

Other Macalester singles winners were Angie Horner (Jr. Bismarck, N.D. / Century) at No. 1, Wenzel at No. 3 and Schneider at No. 6.

Macalester plays Sunday (March 29) at St. Benedict as the team goes for eight in a row.
