Augsburg toppled Macalester 3-0 and 8-5 to claim a couple MIAC wins over the Scots in a doubleheader played at Dundas Park, near Northfield. Each team was held to four hits in the first game as Mac's
John Simkins (Sr., Galesburg, Ill.) lost a pitcher's dual, and in game two, the Auggies came up with six runs in the second inning and held on for another three-run victory.
The Scots drop to 9-14 overall, 2-4 in the MIAC, while Augsburg improves to 12-8 overall and 4-0 in the conference.
Simkins and Augsburg's Jason Kickhafer each allowed just four hits while working a complete game in the opener.
Devin English (So., Annapolis, Md. / Dematha) and
Adam Kent (Sr. Madison, Wis. / West) combined to collect Macalesters only four hits, each collecting two.
Macalester made a game of it in the nightcap with four sixth inning runs, but came up short.
Joe Borer (Sr., St. Paul, Minn.) and
Michael Kennedy (So., Chicago, Ill. / Northside Prep) had two hits apiece, while
Bobby De Meulenaere (Fy., Elk Grove Village, Ill. / Elk Grove) drove in a pair of runs.
Mac's games tomorrow at St. John's have been postponed and will be made up Friday (April 22 at SJU, The Scots then host Concordia-Moorhead Saturday (April 12) at Midway Stadium.
