Macalester vs. Hamline box score
A week after returning from playing five matches in Hilton Head, South Carolina, the Scots returned to competition with an 8-1 victory over Hamline at the Lakeville Tennis Center. Winners of four in a row, Macalester is now 9-2 on the season and 4-1 in the MIAC.
Angie Horner (So., Bismarck, N.D. / Century),
Stephanie Lee (So., Camarillo, Calif. / Oaks Christian) and
Amanda Wenzel (So., Green Bay, Wis. / Southwest) played to quick wins at the top of the singles lineup to lead the way for the Scots. Horner boosted her record to 10-1 on the spring season by a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Lee won 6-2, 6-1 at second singles to improve to 9-2 on the year, while Wenzel is now 8-3 following a quick 6-0, 6-1 decision.
Anna Peschel (Sr., St. Paul, Minn. / Central) claimed a 7-6, 6-1 triumph at No. 5 and
Becky Schneider (Jr., Larchmont, N.Y. / Mamaroneck) won a 6-0, 6-0 match at No. 6.
Mac rolled to 8-2 victories at all three doubles positions. Winning pairs were Horner and Lee at No. 1, Wenzel and
Becky Nieber (Jr., Madison, Wis. / East) at No. 2, and Peschel and Schneider at No. 3.
The Scots play a non-conference match Thursday (April 3) at Northwestern-Roseville and return to conference competition Saturday (April 5) at St. Thomas. Mac enters the match with the Tommies at 4-1 in the MIAC. St. Thomas, along with Gustavus, are the only two remaining unbeaten conference teams.
