Macalester went 3-5 over its Spring Break trip to the Phoenix area March 17-21.  The Scots split a twinbill with Central, swept a doubleheader from Knox, and lost single games to UW-Stout, Marian, Suffolk and Williams.

Macalester hit .315 on the trip and had five players bat over .400. Robert Engel (So., Sunnyvale, Calif. / St. Lawrence) batted .467 to lead the way.  Devin English (So., Annapolis, Md. / DeMatha)  hit .464 and led the team with 13 hits and 12 runs scored.  Michael Kennedy (So., Chicago, Ill. / Northside Prep) batted .438.  John Simkins (Sr., Galesburg, Ill.) hit .407 with a team-leading 10 RBI and Nate Wilson-Traisman (So., Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) batted .400 and had a part in turning eight double playes from his shortstop position.

James Murrey (So., Western Springs, Ill. / Lyons Township) won both his starts, beating Central and Knox, and gave up just one run and a .214 opponent batting average.  He's 4-0 on the season with a 0.78 ERA.  Eric Robinson (So., San Franciso, Calif. / Urban School) was 1-2 with a 2.70 ERA.

Mac plays a Metrodome doubleheader Tuesday (March 25) against Luther (Ia.) and weather permitting, will open MIAC play Saturday (March 29) at St. John's.
