Macalester vs. St. Olaf box score

The spring women's tennis season got off to an excellent start for the Scots, who defeated St. Olaf 6-3 at the Owatonna Racket Club. Macalester claimed four of the six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.

Macalester won at the first three singles positions, including a quick 6-0, 6-0 decision by Angie Horner (So., Bismarck, N.C. / Century) at No. 1. Stephanie Lee (So., Camarillo, Calif. / Oaks Christian) won 6-3, 2-6, 10-4 at No. 2 and at third singles Amanda Wenzel (So., Green Bay, Wis. / Southwest) won 6-0, 6-2.

Also picking up victory at No. 6 singles was Becky Schneider (Jr., Larchmont, N.Y. / Mamaroneck), who won 7-6, 6-0.

Horner and Lee gained an 8-2 victory at first doubles and at third doubles, the Scots picked up a hard-fought 8-6 win from Wenzel and Anna Peschel (Sr., St. Paul, Minn. / Central).

The Scots are off until next Sunday (Feb. 24) when they travel to Winona to play Minnesota-Morris and St. Mary's.
