Hamline dominated the second quarter and went on to gain a 52-7 win over visiting Macalester in the 109th meeting between these two Snelling Ave. rivals as the Pipers win the Paint Bucket Trophy for the ninth year in a row. The Scots, who posted four wins in each of the past two seasons, close out the year at 4-6.
The score was tied 7-7 early in the second quarter before Hamline exploded for a field goal and four touchdowns before halftime to take a commanding 38-7 lead into the intermission.

The Pipers scored on their second possession to go up 7-0. Early in the second quarter, Hamline tried to punt from its own 40-yard line. The punt, however, was blocked by
Jon Elliott (So., El Paso, Tex. / Andress), who also recovered the ball and ran 20 yards to the HU 2-yard line. One player later,

From that point until halftime, however, it was all Hamline as the Pipers took advantage of a couple Macalester turnovers to bury their guests.
