ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College first year Marley Zhang (Hebei, China/Shanghai Hongqiao International School) was named the MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sept. 27, the conference announced today. Zhang captured medalist honors at the September Showdown this past weekend and helped the Scots finish first in the team standings.

Zhang was the picture of consistency despite playing at two different courses, shooting a pair of 71s on Saturday at Oneka Ridge Golf Course and Sunday at Faribault Golf Club. Her two-round score of 142 not only won the event by three strokes but also set a new school record for a 36-hole tournament while carding the fifth-lowest score in recorded MIAC women's golf history. The old mark of 145 was set twice by Bailey Lengfelder '26. Zhang's strong play helped her team erase a nine-stroke deficit to St. Catherine after the first round and close with a school-record score of +6 294 in the second round to win by one stroke.

This is the second victory of the season for Zhang, who opened the season with a first-place finish at the CSB Invitational on Sept. 5-6. Through four events and eight rounds, she has a stroke average of 73.9 so far this season.

Macalester heads to the MIAC Championships, which take place Oct. 2-4 at Braemar Golf Course in Edina, Minn.
