ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior Ingrid Norquist (Minneapolis, Minn./Anoka) was selected the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year for the week ending Sept. 20, the league announced today. Norquist, who also earned the conference's top weekly honor on Sept. 8, placed first at the Toni St. Pierre Invitational, hosted by Saint Benedict and Saint John's on Saturday.

Norquist earned her second win in as many races this fall, following a first-place finish at the Ole Opener on Sept. 4. She covered the 6-kilometer course in 21:58.7 to win by nearly 19 seconds in the 116-runner race.

In the season opener, Norquist won St. Olaf's Ole Opener on Sept. 4. Her performances have helped the Scots take second at both meets this season, finishing 23 points behind No. 17 Carleton this past weekend. Last week Macalester was ranked 10th in the North Region rankings by the USTFCCCA.

Macalester will compete at the Pre-Nationals Meet at Carleton College on Oct. 3 in Northfield, Minn.
