ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming & diving team heads to the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held Feb. 11-14 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Last year the Scots finished second in the team standings, the program's highest finish, and were just 20 points from winning the program's first MIAC championship.

Several Scots who contributed to last year's success are back, led by senior Izzy Uhlhorn-Thornton (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais). A two-time MIAC champion in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke, Uhlhorn-Thornton also was honorable mention in the 200-yard individual medley and swam on two winning relay teams. Sophomores Maya Téllez (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) and Molly Nuckolls (Lawrence, Kan./Free State) also earned All-MIAC honors with third-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and the 1,650-yard freestyle, respectively. Others receiving All-MIAC honorable mention in individual swimming events were Téllez, Nuckolls, seniors Nadia Lanz (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) and Hannah Zurn (Hudson, Wis./Hudson), and sophomore Amalia Shields (Madison, Wis./Madison West).

Other swimmers who have had solid seasons so far include senior Emma Henry (Chesapeake, Va./Oscar Smith), sophomore Carolyn Wolking (Micanopy, Fla./Santa Fe College), and first years Ella Franklin (Tucson, Ariz./University), Poppy Wedding (Madison, Wis./Middleton) and Jay Young (Arlington, Va.).

In the diving events, first year Ainsley Kashatus (Washington, D.C./Holton Arms School) is a threat to place high on both the 1- and 3-meter boards.

Tickets will be sold via HomeTown Ticketing; cash will not be accepted. All-session passes are $73 for adults and $31 for students. Single-session tickets are $12 and $6. Children under five are admitted free.
