Men’s Cross Country: Macalester Competes at Griak Invitational

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's cross country team participated in the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota at Les Bolstad Golf Course Friday afternoon. The Scots finished eighth out of 21 teams, including several Division II and NAIA schools, and were first among Division III teams.

Leading the way for Macalester was sophomore John Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North), who covered the 8000-meter course in 27:32.2 to take 34th. First year Chase Fitterer (Spokane, Wash./International School of Business) was on Ihrke's heels in 36th with at time of 27:37.5. Junior Owen Lafferty (Woodbury, Minn./Mounds Park Academy) was the Scots' third runner in 63rd place (28:12.8), followed by sophomore Caleb Hatlevig (Stow, Mass./Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School) and senior Jay Lebakken (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) in 70th and 71st, respectively.

Macalester is ranked seventh in the North Region after winning the Hamline Invitational last Friday.

The Scots will run at the Blugold Invitational, hosted by UW-Eau Claire on Friday, Oct. 3 in Colfax, Wis.
