HASTINGS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's golf team posted a school-record score of +32 608 to win the 18-team D3 Golf Classic, hosted by Gustavus at Emerald Greens Saturday and Sunday. The victory is the Scots' second in three tournaments this season, following a first-place finish at the Saint Benedict Invitational on Aug. 30-31.
The team's performance tops the previous school record for a 36-hole tournament of 610 at last year's D3 Central Region Fall Preview at Legacy Golf in Faribault, Minn. This weekend Macalester carded back-to-back scores of +16 304 to finish two strokes ahead of UW-Stout.
Senior
Bailey Lengfelder (Renton, Wash./Hazen) turned in a 71 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday to tie for first place individually with Julia Imai of UW-Stout. Her score ties her own school record for a 36-hole tournament that she set this past spring at the Wartburg Spring Invitational. Sophomore
Ava Austria (Portland, Ore./Catlin Gabel) and first year
