ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior
Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) and junior
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) were included on the Women's Tennis Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Communicators announced today.
This is the first Academic All-District award for Twomey, who played in all 18 duals this season at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles. Her three-set win at No. 3 singles clinched a 5-4 victory over Concordia on Oct. 6. A two-time member of the Academic All-MIAC team, Twomey is majoring in geography.
A geology major at Macalester, Trevathan is a repeat selection on the Academic All-District Team. Last year she also made the Academic All-MIAC Team. This past season, Trevathan was 8-10 while playing mostly at No. 1 singles, and went 7-11 at No. 1 doubles. She was victorious in both singles and doubles in seven duals, and closed out the season with singles wins against Hamline and St. Olaf.
Student-athletes must be at a sophomore, junior or senior, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and have been in the lineup for 70 percent of their team's dual matches to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades.
