HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Macalester College women's tennis team were defeated by Coe College by a score of 2-5 on Sunday night in their second matchup of the team's spring trip. Singles matches won by
Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and
Sedona Crosby (St. Paul, Minn./ Highland Park) gave the Scots their two points, but three losses in the doubles gave the Kohawks the meet win. Macalester's season record is now 2-7, with a 1-2 conference record.
In the No. 1 doubles, juniors Haugen and
Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy were defeated 6-3 by Coe's Sophia Fain and Addison Leasure.
Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) and
Mary Jacobson (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell-Newburg) lost No. 2 doubles 6-2, defeated by Jaden Fuqua and Maria Bello Escobar.
Berkeley Cox (Sandpoint, Idaho/Sandpoint) and
Greta Laurel (River Falls, Wis./ Hudson) had the closest doubles match of the night in the No. 3 contest, losing 6-4 to Giana Akins and Makayla Baxter.
In the No. 1 singles, Trevathan was defeated by Fain, 6-3, 6-3. Haugen was victorious in the No. 2 singles over Leasure, winning her second set in a tiebreak, 6-1, 7

4. Twomey fell to Alice Tysoe in the No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-3, and Cox lost the No. 4 match to Fuqua, 6-1, 6-3. Crosby picked up her first singles win of the season in the No. 5 contest, defeating Baxter in a match that lasted almost two hours, 7
