Box Score HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Macalester College women's tennis team continued its spring trip with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Indiana University Southeast Monday afternoon at Van Der Meer Tennis Center. The Scots improve to 3-7 on the season with the win.

Macalester opened the dual with wins at first and third doubles to take the doubles points. Juniors Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) and Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, and the No. 3 doubles team of first years Berkeley Cox (Sandpoint, Idaho/Sandpoint) and Greta Laurel (River Falls, Wis./Hudson) also was victorious by the same 6-2 score.

In singles, Trevathan and Laurel both won their matches at first and sixth singles in straight sets, putting the Scots on the edge of clinching the dual. Senior Megan Twomey (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) lost a close match at No. 3 singles to Kate Halbig, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4. The Grenadiers took the matches at fourth and fifth singles in straight sets, leaving the match at No. 2 singles between Haugen and Ivy Hasenour to decide the outcome of the dual. Haugen outlasted Hasenour in the first set, 7-5, then won the second set 6-2 to take the match and give Macalester the victory.

The Scots' final dual of the spring trip will be on Thursday, Mar. 20 against Kalamazoo College at 11:30 a.m. Eastern at the Van Der Meer Tennis Center.
