Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) has qualified to compete in the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming & Diving Championships, which will be held Mar. 19-22 in Greensboro, N.C. Wray-Raabolle qualified in the 100-yard backstroke and will also compete in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle.
Last weekend at the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships, Wray-Raabolle achieved an NCAA B standard time of 55.17 while swimming the 100 backstroke on the leadoff leg of Macalester's 400-yard medley relay. That time currently ranks 14th in Division III. The Scots won the relay in a school-record time of 3:51.41. On Friday, she won the 100 backstroke in 55.68 for her second MIAC title in the event in the past three years.
Wray-Raabolle also earned All-MIAC honors with a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.95) and a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.60), also a school record. In the relays, she helped the Scots win the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay along with the 400-yard medley relay to earn All-MIAC honors in seven events.
Wray-Raabolle will swim the 50-yard freestyle on Wednesday, Mar. 19 midway through the morning session, which begins at 9:00 a.m. Central. The 100-yard backstroke is on Friday, Mar. 21 midway through the morning session and the 100-yard freestyle is on Saturday, Mar. 22 at 9:00 a.m. Central.
