MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team opened the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships with a pair of All-MIAC performances in the relays and diving points on the first day at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Wednesday evening. The Scots currently sit in fourth plays in the team standings with 75 points.
Junior diver
Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) qualified for the finals on the 1-meter board with a score of 339.65. He ended up finishing eighth in the finals.
The 200-yard medley relay team of first year
Kean James Pajarillaga (Saipan, Marianas Pacific/Grace Christian Academy), senior
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill), senior
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) and first year
Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) placed third with a time of 1:33.20. The time breaks the school record of 1:34.17 set in December.
In the 800-yard freestyle relay, the foursome of Batsaikhan, sophomore
Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy), Pajarillaga and Taufen also finished third with a school-record time of 6:55.41. The old mark of 6:57.46 was set at last year's MIAC Championships. The two third-place finishes earn All-MIAC honors in both relays.
Day 2 of the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships includes two sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
