ST. PAUL, Minn. – Four athletes traveled to Hamline University on Saturday to represent the Macalester College men's swimming and diving team in the Piper Red Invite. Senior
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/ East Chapel Hill) continued his dominant season with wins in all three individual events he swam.
Batsaikhan was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.11) by less than a second, the 100-yard freestyle (50.95), and the 200-yard IM (2:04.38). Macalester's other swimmer competing,
Peter Simpson (Grinnell, Iowa/ Grinnell) recorded a time of 1:02.11 in the 100-yard butterfly and finished third in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:06.78.
The Scots sent two divers to the meet, both recording podium finishes. Junior
Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./ Phillips Academy) finished second in the 3-meter (187.30) and the 1-meter (181.35). He was joined by
Devinn Chi (St. Paul, Minn.) in third place in the 1-meter (105.00).
Macalester will compete in the Minnesota First Chance Meet in Minneapolis on Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8 in their last meet before the MIAC Championship.
