ST. PAUL, Minn. – Senior forward
Noah Shannon (Northfield, Ill./New Trier) was selected the MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 16, the conference announced today. Shannon averaged 33.5 points and 10.5 rebounds over two non-conference victories at home last week.
Against UW-Stout on Wednesday, Shannon scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in an 82-76 win. He also had five assists and three steals. Shannon's previous career best was 25 points against the Blue Devils last season. Then on Saturday, he made 18-of-21 from the free throw line and 7-of-11 from the field en route to 32 points to go with nine rebounds and four assists in a 126-114 victory over Grinnell. The wins evened the Scots' record at 2-2 on the season.
Through four games, Shannon leads Macalester and ranks third in the MIAC in scoring, averaging 24.3 points per game. His 10.0 rebounds per contest rank fourth in the conference, and his 35 free throws made are more than twice as many as any other player in the MIAC.
Macalester continues non-conference play with a game at the University of Northwestern on Tuesday, Nov. 18. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Roseville, Minn.
