ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior forward
Noah Shannon (Northfield, Ill./New Trier) was named to the All-Region 9 second team by d3hoops.com, the website announced today. Earlier this month, Shannon was included on the All-MIAC team after leading the Scots in both scoring and rebounding this season.
After missing a total of 19 games as a sophomore and junior due to injury, Shannon started all 25 games this season, averaging 21.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 56.6 percent from the field. The Scots' most important and versatile player, he ranked second in the MIAC in scoring, fourth in assists, fifth in rebounding and sixth in field goal percentage. Shannon registered seven double-doubles and scored 30 points or more in seven games this season. In back-to-back wins over UW-Stout and Grinnell, he tallied 35 and 32 points, respectively and was named the MIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 17. Following a 23-point performance against UW-Superior and a 30-point game in a win over Saint Mary's, he received his second MIAC Offensive Player of the Week honor on Jan. 5.
On Feb. 4, Shannon became the 26th men's basketball player at Macalester to score 1,000 career points.
Also an excellent student, Shannon is a two-time Academic All-MIAC honoree and an Academic All-District Team member as a junior. In 82 career games, he registered 1,097 points, 529 rebounds and 203 assists, and ranks 17th on Macalester's all-time scoring list.
Shannon is one of four players from the MIAC to make one of the three All- Region 9 teams. Gustavus' Myles Barnette and Concordia's Jacob Cook are on the first team, while J.J. Semanko of Augsburg joined Shannon on the second team.
