ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team received the Team Academic award from the United Soccer Coaches today after posting the second-highest team grade point average across all NCAA Divisions during the 2023-24 academic year, the organization announced today. The Scots registered a GPA of 3.79, just behind MIT with a 3.88 GPA.
This is the 12
th consecutive season, under the leadership of head coach,
Gregg Olson, that Macalester has earned the Team Academic award, which requires at team GPA of at least 3.0. There were 168 men's teams recognized. Macalester is one of 102 schools to have both their men's and women's programs recognized.

Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./ Benet Academy) was named an Academic All-American and current senior
Ian Staresinic (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) received the MIAC Elite 22 award. Haenicke, Staresinic, current senior
Sam Price (Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech), current juniors
Nick Kent (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Louis Park) and
Tanguy Lesegretain (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills), and recent graduate
Zade Alafranji (Sacramento, Calif./Sacramento Waldorf School) were named to the Division III Academic All-District team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). These six along with ten more Scots received Academic All-MIAC honors last season.
