Men’s Tennis: Three Scots Honored with MIAC Awards

ST. PAUL, Minn. – Juniors Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani), Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century), and Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) were recognized by the MIAC today, as the conference announced its season-end awards. Doi was named to the All-MIAC singles team and All-MIAC Honorable Mention doubles team, Sargent was named All-MIAC Honorable Mention singles, and Lynch was named to the All-Playoff team.
 
Doi was 9-8 in singles this season, going 1-1 at No. 1 singles and 8-7 at No. 2 singles. He was 5-4 in conference play. His 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles helped lead the Scots to a 6-3 victory against Saint John's on April 14. Doi led the team with a 4-5 record at doubles going 2-1 at No. 1 doubles and 2-4 at No. 2 doubles. His 8-3 victory at No. 2 doubles with partner junior Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) again St. Olaf in the MIAC Quarterfinals helped advance the Scots to the Semifinals. This is Doi's third All-MIAC Singles Team recognition and first recognition in doubles.
 
Sargent went 6-9 this season at No. 1 singles. His 6-2. 6-4 win at No. 1 singles on April 11, helped the Scots blank Saint Mary's 9-0. This is Sargent's first All-MIAC Honorable Mention recognition, being named All-MIAC in singles the past two years.
 
Lynch was named to the All-Playoff team. He won at fifth singles, 6-2. 6-3 against St. Olaf in the MIAC Quarterfinals. This helped the Scots to a 5-0 win and a place in the MIAC Semifinals. This is Lynch's first appearance on the All-Playoff team.
