ST. PAUL, Minn. – For the second year in a row, Macalester College senior forward
Hans Haenicke (Lisle, Ill./Benet Academy) was named to the Division III Academic All-America third team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the organization announced today. Haenicke joins
Jackson White '20 as Macalester men's soccer players to earn Academic All-American honors twice.
A German Studies and Media & Cultural Studies double-major at Macalester, Haenicke has a cumulative grade point average of 3.97. He has earned a spot on the Academic All-District team three times and was named to the Academic All-MIAC Team as a sophomore and junior.
On the field, Haenicke closed out his career at Macalester with his best season, totaling 12 goals and four assists for 28 points. He tied for second in the MIAC in goals and was fourth in points to earn All-MIAC honors for the fourth straight year, becoming only the 18th men's soccer player in the history of the MIAC to be named to the All-MIAC team four times. When the Scots needed him the most, Haenicke was there, registering a league-best six game-winning goals this season. Macalester was 7-2 when he scored a goal and 8-2 when he recorded a point. Also a three-time All-Region selection, Haenicke ends his career as one of the program's top offensive players. In 69 career games, he racked up 35 goals, 14 assists and 84 points to rank fifth in goals, 13th in assists and seventh in points on Macalester's all-time lists.
Haenicke follows Jackson and
Will Orser '22 as recent Macalester men's soccer players named to the Academic All-America team. White received the honor in 2018 and 2019.

Taylor Rasmussen '13 are the other men's soccer players who have been named Academic All-Americans.
The CSC Academic All-America program honors student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50, and have played in 90 percent of their team's games or have started at least 66 percent of their team's games to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades. The Academic All-America teams are voted on by members of CSC.
