ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team defeated Carleton College on Saturday afternoon at Riley Pool by a score of 144-140. This marks an outstanding feat for the Scots, who have not been victorious over Carleton in many years. This is the second win for Macalester this year out of three meets.
Macalester began the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay, with first year
Kean James Pajarillaga (Saipan, Marianas Pacific/Grace Christian Academy), senior
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill), sophomore
Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) and senior
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) winning with a time of 1:37.60. The Scots also finished the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a team of Batsaikhan, Kisker, junior
TJ Palli (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) and first year
Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill. Evanston Township) dominating at 1:28.93, which secured the overall meet victory.
In the individual events, Moore placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.15 as well as the 100-yard freestyle at 48.08. Pajarillaga won the 100-yard backstroke in 53.88 and the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.30, while Kisker championed the 50-yard freestyle in 22.22.
Runner-up finished were turned in by first year
Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.82) and 100-yard freestyle (49.38) as well as sophomore
William Haby (Denver, Colo./George Washington) in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:44.36).
In the diving events, junior
Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) placed first on the 3-meter board with a score of 167.90 and on the 1-meter board with a score of 165.35.
Macalester's will host the annual Hour of Power meet with Carleton on Tuesday, November 12.
