ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College first year Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) was selected the MIAC Rookie of the Year for women's cross country, the conference announced today. Fox also earned All-MIAC honors, as the MIAC released its year-end awards.

At Saturday's MIAC Championships, held at St. Olaf, Fox placed ninth with a time of 22:54.9 over the 6-kilometer course. She was the highest-placing first year in the race, and the only first year to make the All-MIAC team, which recognizes the top 15 finishers overall. The Scots' top runner in every event this season, Fox is Macalester's first All-MIAC runner since Kimber Meyer '17 placed second in 2016.

Buoyed by Fox's strong performance, the Scots finished sixth in the team standings, moving up two spots from last year's eighth-place finish.

MIAC champion Hannah Preisser was named the MIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, while St. Olaf's Erica maker was chosen the Coach of the Year.

Macalester will send a portion of the team to the Cannon River Closer, hosted by St. Olaf today at 5:00 p.m. The NCAA North Region Meet is Nov. 16 at Carleton.
