ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming & diving team sent a small group of swimmers to the Phoenix Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Chicago Nov. 22-24. Several Scots achieved season bests, including first year
Molly Nuckolls (Lawrence, Kan./Free State), who set a school record on Sunday.
Nuckolls swam the 200-yard butterfly in 2:09.33 to break the school record of 2:10.97, previously held by teammate
Hannah Zurn (Hudson, Wis./Hudson). Nuckolls set the record in the preliminary round and elected not to swim in the final Sunday evening. Nuckolls also made the B final in the 500-yard freestyle on Friday with a time of 5:14.84 before taking 20th in 5:15.89.

Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) swam the 200-yard individual medley in 2:11.38 on Friday and placed 20th with a time of 2:13.95 in the B final. Carolyn Wolking (Micanopy, Fla./Santa Fe College) to take 13th in the 400-yard medley relay in 4:01.16, which ranks second in the MIAC.
On Saturday the Scots' 200-yard medley relay team of Wray-Raabolle, Wolking, Chapon and senior
Olga Merkadeau (Lafayette, Calif./The College Preparatory School) placed 13th in 1:49.22, also the second-fastest time in the MIAC this season. Wray Raabolle qualified for the A final in the 100-yard backstroke in 57.96, which leads the MIAC. She finished 10th in the final with a time of 58.32. Chapon and Nuckolls both qualified for the B final in the 400-yard individual medley and placed 13th and 14th, respectively. Natalie Pollock (Madison, Wis./Madison West) placed seventh in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 8:03.74.
On Sunday, along with her record swim in the 200 butterfly, Nuckolls finished ninth in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:01.83. Wray-Raabolle made the B final in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:12.74 in the prelims. Wolking also qualified for the B final in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:30.91.
Macalester hosts the Roger Ahlman Invitational Dec. 6-7 at Riley Pool in the final competition of the semester.
