Women’s Cross Country: Macalester Ready for MIAC Championships on Saturday

| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's cross country team is set to compete at the MIAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 at St. Olaf. The Scots are looking to improve upon its eighth-place finish at the conference meet a year ago.

First year Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) has been the Scots' top runner all season, leading the team in each of its five races so far this season. Fox was 16th overall and ninth among Division III runners at Carleton's Running of the Cows on Oct. 5. Sophomore Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) has been Macalester's No. 2 finisher in four meets this fall, while sophomore Destiny Osemwengie (Buford, Ga./Peachtree Ridge) followed Fox at the Griak invitational on Sept. 20 and has been the third Scot to cross the finish line in three events.

Senior Sylvia Coyle (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming), junior Mara Pirone (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill), sophomore Samantha Ellis (Intervale, N.H./Gould Academy)  and first years Sophia Fan (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) and Megan Worry (Menlo Park, Calif./Notre Dame) all have finished in the top five at some point this season and give the Scots depth at the MIAC Championships.

The women's race starts things off at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men's race at 12:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn. Links to live results and other information can be found on the MIAC Cross Country Championships page.
