WHITEWATER, Wis. – Four members of the Macalester College women's tennis team competed in the ITA Midwest Regional, hosted by UW-Whitewater Sept. 22-23. Additionally, two Scots participated in the Midwest Invite, with sophomore Savannah Haugen (Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji) winning the singles B draw.

Haugen defeated Emma Thurness of Wartburg and Hailey Beisel of UW-Eau Claire in straight sets on Friday. On Saturday, she defeated Kate Trifilio of Carroll, 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the final, where she outlasted Bruna Costa of Luther in three sets, 5-7, 6-1, 10-6.

In the regional singles tournament, senior Meg Ulrich (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) defeated Natalia Smith of Luther in straight sets and sophomore Elizabeth Trevathan (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) downed Mac Graves of Cornell College in three sets. Ulrich and Trevathan joined senior Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park), who had a first-round bye, in the second round, where all three lost their matches. Senior Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) also competed in singles and was eliminated in the first round.

In the doubles tournament, Ellison and Ulrich lost in the first round, as did the team of Reynolds and Trevathan. In the doubles tournament, Ellison and Ulrich lost in the first round, as did the team of Reynolds and Trevathan. On Saturday, Reynolds and Ulrich competed in the consolation bracket and won three matches to advance to the final. The duo lost a close match in the final to Lily Perrin & Anika Sheth of Grinnell, 8-5. Trevathan also competed in the singles consolation tournament and won four matches to capture the consolation bracket. She beat Emma Thole of Bethel, 8-5 in the finals.

Also competing at the Midwest Invite was senior Talia Chait (Lexington, Mass./Lexington), who was edged by Addy Farber of UW-Eau Claire, 6-0, 1-6, 10-8. Chait and Haugen lost their first-round match in the doubles tournament.
