ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team had four Scots were named to the Division III Academic All-District team by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) today. Seniors
Josh Marine (Honolulu, Hawaii/Summit) and
Anton Korolev (Moscow, Russia/Weil) and rising juniors
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) and
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) are also candidates for Academic All-America honors.
Marine is a physics and Japanese double major. This season, he posted a singles record of 7-4, including 4-3 at No. 6 singles. Marine had a 5-7 doubles record, including being 5-5 at No. 3 doubles. He was named Academic All-MIAC in 2022.
This season, Korolev was named All-MIAC in both doubles and singles. He led the team in doubles with a 12-5 record, including 10-5 at No. 2 doubles. He also recorded the second-most wins in singles 11-5, and went 7-2 in MIAC competition. Korolev is an economics major and was Academic All-MIAC in 2022.
Lynch posted a 9-5 record in doubles, mostly playing at No. 3 doubles. In MIAC doubles competition, he went 5-2.
Wood was named to the All-MIAC singles team this season, posing a 9-5 singles record. In MIAC play he finished 7-2.
Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.50 and be a starter or contributor to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades.
This year the Scots finished third in the MIAC standings, with an 11-7 (7-2 MIAC) record. Macalester made it to the semifinals of the MIAC Playoffs.
