ORLANDO, Fla. – The Macalester College women's tennis opened up its spring trip with a match against Franklin and Marshall College. The match was played to decision, as the Scots fell 5-0 to the Diplomats. Macalester is now 6-1 (3-0 MIAC).
The Diplomats took the points at first and third doubles, defeating the Scots 8-2 in both matches. At No. 2 doubles, junior
Amanye Reynolds (St. Paul, Minn./Harding) and senior
Amalin Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) were edged 8-7, falling in the tiebreak 7-3.
Reynolds went to three sets at No. 2 singles. She won the first set 6-3, then fell 6-4, 10-3. The Diplomats also won at first singles against junior
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park). As the Diplomats had five points, the match ended at decision, and the Scots fell 5-0.
Macalester's next match will be Tuesday March 14 in Orlando, Fla. The Scots will play Ohio Wesleyan beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
