COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team began its 2023-24 schedule with a loss to Saint John's University in a dual meet on Saturday at Warner Palaestra Pool. The Johnnies won the team scoring with 178.0 points to 99.0 points for Macalester.
The relay team of first year
Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy), juniors
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill) and
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood), and sophomore
TJ Palli (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) won both the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:28.80) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:55.76).
Along with his relay performances, Moore made a solid collegiate debut, taking second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.72 and placing third in the 100-yard butterfly in 54.58. First year
Will Haby (Denver, Colo./George Washington) also swam well in his first collegiate meet, finishing second in both the 500- and 1000-yard freestyle. Batsaikhan posted a pair of second-place finishes in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke with times of 1:01.70 and 2:17.53. Kisker took second in the 50-yard freestyle in 22.11 and placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.32. Senior
William Nicholson (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) finished third in the 100-yard backstroke in 59.65.
In diving, sophomore
Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) recorded a score of 201.15 on the 1-meter board to take third, scoring 25 points higher than his season best last year.
Macalester continues its schedule on Nov. 4 with a dual meet at Carleton. The first event begins at 1:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
