La Crosse, Wis. – Sophomore
Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster) of the Macalester College women's track and field team won the 1500-meter run at the UW La Crosse Final Qualifier this evening.
Blaesing won in a time of 4:35.38, which is a personal record. This is the third fastest time in Macalester history. She beat her previous record of 4:36.23, which she set at the Tommie Twilight on May 4.
Her time currently ranks 27
th in Division III, and provides Blaesing with an excellent chance of making the NCAA DIII Outdoor Championships next week. Blaesing competed in the 1500 at the National Indoor Championships in March, placing ninth in her heat.
The rest of the women's track and field team competes tomorrow in La Crosse.
