Northfield, Minn. – The Macalester College women's cross-country team competed at the NCAA North Regional meet today, hosted by St. Olaf. The Scots finished 11
th out of 33 teams. Last year, the Scots finished 12th.
Leading the Scots was junior
Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster). Blaesing finished 26
th with a time of 22:52.6. Behind Blaesing was fellow junior
Maggie Froh (Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King International School) who finished in 56
th with a time of 23:52.9. The third Scot across the finish line was junior
Sylvia Greene (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial). Greene placed 65
th (24:00.4). Next was first year
Mara Pirone (Carrboro, N.C./Chapel Hill), who came in 103
rd with a time of 24:47.8. Senior
Erin Franke (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) followed in 112
th (24:53.1) and sophomore
Sylvia Coyle (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) came in 129
th (25:11.2). Rounded out the top seven for Macalester, was senior
Jesse Colnes (Montpelier, VT./U-32), who took 158
th (25:45.0)
This was the last race for seniors Colnes, Franke, and
Grace Lin (New York, N.Y./LaGuardia). The Scots return 20 next season.
