ST. PAUL, Minn. – In the final home meet of the season, the Macalester College women's swimming and diving team hosted Grinnell College Saturday afternoon at Riley Pool. The Scots lost the team competition, 178-119 despite winning four individual events and a relay.
Sophomore
Jocelyn Radke (Indianapolis, Ind.) had a strong meet, winning two individual races. She placed first in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:02.33 and won the 50-yard freestyle in 25.37. Radke also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.44.
First year
Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.16. She also took second in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:19.45. First year
Natalie Pollock (Madison, Wis./Madison West) placed first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:41.65 and also took third in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:05.80.
First year
Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) finished second in both the 100-yard butterfly (2:24.27) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.54), while first year
Eleanor Parker (Milton, Wis./Milton) took second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:50.55.
Along with Johnson and Pollock, five other Scots registered third-place finishes: first year
Olga Merkadeau (Lafayette, Calif./The College Preparatory School) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.05), first year
Anna Rakowski (Vergennes, Vt./Vergennes Union) in the 100-yard freestyle (57.85), senior
Zella Lobo (Portland, Ore./Grant) in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:51.56), first year
Sian Lewandowski (North Haven, Conn./Williston Northampton) in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.69), and first year
Olivia Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Shorewood) in the 100-yard butterfly (2:28.06).
Macalester ended the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay, with the team of Rakowski, Wray-Raabolle, Merkadeau and Radke winning with a time of 1:43.34.
In the diving events, first year
Kate Yehle (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
Before the meet, the Scots honored seniors Lobo and
Sena Takashima (San Dimas, Calif./Troy) as a part of Senior Day.
Macalester will compete at the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships on Feb. 16-19 at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
