ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior guard Gabriel Ramos (Dorado, Puerto Rico/Tasis Dorado) was selected the MIAC Athlete of the Week for men's basketball for the week ending Jan. 23, the league announced today. Ramos led the Scots to a pair of comeback victories on the road to extend the team's winning streak to three games.

On Saturday, Ramos poured in a career-high 28 points while making 7-of-12 from three-point range and 10-of-19 overall from the field in a 76-72 win at Saint Mary's. Ramos' efforts helped Macalester erase a 13-point deficit in the second half. He also grabbed a team-best six rebounds and had two assists and two steals. Against St. Olaf on Wednesday, Ramos tallied 12 points and seven boards, as the Scots came back from seven points down to win, 58-56. The two road wins give Macalester a 7-9 record on the season, including a 4-7 mark in the MIAC.

So far this season, Ramos is averaging 12.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 40.4 percent (23-of-57) from beyond the arc.

The Scots return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 26 with a home game against Concordia College. The MIAC game starts at 7:15 p.m. in the Leonard Center.
