ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team started the second half of the 2021-22 season with a home dual against St. Olaf Saturday afternoon at Riley Pool. The Oles won the dual, 201-96 despite several strong performances by the Scots.
First year
Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) registered Macalester's lone victory in the individual events, taking the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.19. In the 200-yard backstroke, Wray-Raabolle was second in 2:21.51. She also helped the Scots win the 200-yard freestyle relay, along with sophomore
Jocelyn Radke (Indianapolis, Ind.) and first years
Olga Merkadeau (Lafayette, Calif./The College Preparatory School) and
Anna Rakowski (Vergennes, Vt./Vergennes Union), with a time of 1:44.12.
Radke turned in a pair of second-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.80) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.05). Merkadeau took second in the 100-yard freestyle in 57.59, while first year
Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) was runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.15. A host of Scots placed third in their events, including Rakowski in the 50 freestyle (26.61), Chapon in the 400 individual medley (4:58.08), first year
Sian Lewandowski (North Haven, Conn./Williston Northampton) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:25.06), first year
Eleanor Parker (Milton, Wis./Milton) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:43.72), and first year
Natalie Pollock (Madison, Wis./Madison West) in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.45).
In the diving events, first year
Kate Yehle (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
Macalester hosts Grinnell on Saturday, Jan. 29 in the final tune-up before the MIAC Championships.
