ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team played its second game of the 2021 fall season in a non-conference match against Northland College on Saturday September 4 in Ashland, Wis., beating Northland 7-0.
The Scots were strong on the attack registering 11 shots in the first half, and a total of 25 in the game. The scoring was opened in the 30
th minute by junior
Julia Kispert (Atherton, CA/Menlo-Atherton). Just before half time, first year
Caighley Espardinez (Camarillo, CA/Rancho Campana) scored her first goal as a Scot to double the lead going into the break.
The Scots opened the second half strong creating multiple chances.
Kispert opened the scoring again, tallying two goals this half, registering a hattrick on the night. Senior
Carolyn Eckstein (Bryn Mawr, PA/Radnor) netted herself a goal, and senior
Alice Bieda (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) finished out the scoring with two of her own.
The Scots now have a record of 1-0-1. Macalester's next game is Sept. 8 at 5:00 p.m. against University of Wisconsin-River Falls in River Falls, Wis.
