ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team completed its 2021 spring season by beating Hamline, 3-1 in an exhibition game Sunday afternoon at Macalester Stadium. The Scots finish the spring with a 2-0-2 record.
Hamline struck first with a goal by Logan Weller in the 29th minute. Then in the 37th minute, the Scots pulled even on a goal by junior
Will Orser (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial), who scored on a free kick.
The game remained tied into the second half until the 69th minute, when junior
Jack Muller (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) scored off an assist by senior
Etienne Chenevert (Baton Rouge, La./Baton Rouge Magnet) for a 2-1 lead. Senior
Theo Nsereko (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston) added an insurance goal for Macalester when he bent his corner kick into the goal in the 85th minute.
The victory marked the final competition for seniors Chenevert, Nsereko,
Aidan Keefe (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic),
Sabri Fair (Eaton Rapids, Mich./East Lansing), and
Max Starks (Green Bay, Wis./Preble). The group helped the Scots win 30 games and qualify for the MIAC Playoffs all three seasons from 2017-19.
