NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team competed in a dual at Carleton on Saturday, losing 154-82. The Scots had several strong performances on the diving boards and in the pool.
Macalester divers took the top two spots on both boards. Junior
Katie Kelbrants (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South) won the 1-meter event with a score of 205.80, followed by first year
Kate Yehle (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) in second. The two flipped spots on the 3-meter board, with Yehle winning with a score of 213.75 and Kelbrants taking second.
In the swimming events, first year
Olga Merkadeau (Lafayette, Calif./The College Preparatory School) won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.50. Fellow first year
Anna Rakowski (Vergennes, Vt./Vergennes Union) was third in 58.94. In the 100-yard butterfly, first year
Sian Lewandowski (North Haven, Conn./Williston Northampton) was second in 1:03.12, while first year
Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:37.37.
Third-place finishes were turned in by first year
Natalie Pollock (Madison, Wis./Madison West) in the 200 freestyle (2:05.33), sophomore
Jocelyn Radke (Indianapolis, Ind.) in the 50 freestyle (25.69), Chapon in the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.30), first year
Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.41), and junior
Grace Madigan (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Scots' 200-yard freestyle relay team of first year
Eleanor Parker (Milton, Wis./Milton), Rakowski, Merkadeau and Radke finished second in a time of 1:44.02.
Next up for the Scots is a home dual with St. Catherine on Nov. 12, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Riley Pool.
