ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team hosted St. Catherine University in a dual meet Friday night at Riley Pool. The Wildcats, who are one of the top teams in the MIAC, defeated the Scots in the team scoring, 140-89.
In the swimming events, first year
Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) had the most impressive performance for the Scots, as she won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.77, her best time of the season in the event. Sophomore
Jocelyn Radke (Indianapolis, Ind.) continued her strong season with a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 25.47.
Also taking third were first years
Eleanor Parker (Milton, Wis./Milton) in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:47.60),
Sian Lewandowski (North Haven, Conn./Williston Northampton) in the 200 freestyle (2:05.33),
Olga Merkadeau (Lafayette, Calif./The College Preparatory School) in the 100 freestyle (56.90) and
Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) in the 100-yard butterfly (1:04.74).
In the diving events, junior
Katie Kelbrants (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South) placed first on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. She posted a score of 199.75 on the 1-meter board and 212.35 on the 3-meter board. First year
Kate Yehle (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) was second in both the 1-meter (183.70) and 3-meter (206.85) events, while junior
Karlee Taylor (Seattle, Wash./Ingraham) placed third on the 1-meter board.
Macalester returns to the pool on Nov. 20 at the Grace Goblirsch Invite, held at Gustavus in St. Peter, Minn.
