ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team faced the College of Saint Benedict in a dual Friday and Saturday, with the swimming taking place at Saint John's on Friday and the diving occurring at Macalester on Saturday. The Bennies won the dual, 177-119.
In the swimming events on Friday, sophomore
Jocelyn Radke (Indianapolis, Ind.) won both the 50-yard freestyle (25.29) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.04). Radke led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 freestyle, with first year
Anna Rakowski (Vergennes, Vt./Vergennes Union) taking second in 57.32 and first year
Natalie Pollock (Madison, Wis./Madison West) taking third in 57.41. Rakowski also was third in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.99. In the 200-yard freestyle, first year
Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) placed second (2:04.79) and junior
Grace Madigan (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) took third (2:08.16). Madigan also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:39.32, with first year
Eleanor Parker (Milton, Wis./Milton) placing third in 5:45.07. In the 1000-yard freestyle, junior
Grace Turner (Northborough, Mass./Worcester Academy) took third in 12:18.39.
Pollock earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.38. In the 200-yard butterfly, first year
Sian Lewandowski (North Haven, Conn./Williston Northampton) finished second in 2:23.38. She also was second in the 400-yard individual medley (5:19.75), while sophomore
Isabel Capecci (Franklin, Mass./Franklin) took third (5:28.16). First year
Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy) was second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:22.24) and third in the 100 backstroke (1:04.55). First year
Sonya Green (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) placed third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 3:04.70.
In the relays, the team of Wray-Raabolle, Chapon, Pollock and Radke finished second in the 400 medley relay in 4:15.11. The foursome of Radke, Rakowski, Pollock and Chapon was second in the 400 freestyle relay.
In the diving events, junior
Katie Kelbrants (Minneapolis, Minn./Minneapolis South) placed second and first year
Kate Yehle (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) took third on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
Macalester swims at Carleton on Saturday, Nov. 6, beginning at 1:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
