ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's cross country team lost to St. Thomas by one point in the annual battle for the Summit Cup, held at St. Catherine University Wednesday afternoon. The Tommies took first, fourth, sixth, eighth and ninth for 28 points, while the Scots placed second, third, fifth, seventh and 12th for 29 points.

Jake Lepak (St. Louis, Mo./St., Louis University HS) was the first Scot across the finish line, taking second in 21:40.60. Junior
Adrian Johnson (Laramie, Wyo./Laramie) was third overall with a time of 21:52.27. Sophomore
Smith Mayse (Beloit, Wis./Beloit Memorial) took fifth overall, with freshman
August Hayes (Decorah, Iowa/Decorah) and senior
Sam O'Donnell-Hoff (St. Paul, Minn./Roseville Area) closing out the scoring for Macalester. Karl Wachter won the race in 21:04.38.
The Scots' next race is the Running of the Cows on Sept. 21 at Carleton in Northfield, Minn.
